About Service

Voleo is an app that enables even beginners to invest in stocks confidently. It aims to facilitate the formation of investment clubs with trusted individuals such as family members, friends, and colleagues and make stock investing accessible and effortless.

Hosted a student competition sponsored by NASDAQ, the world's leading venture-backed stock market. The competition included a simulated trading platform (SimuTrader), which allowed participants to experience investment without any impact on their actual trades.

Situation

The previous development had focused on developing the iOS app, leading to inconsistent and different user experiences on the Android app and web application. To address this, my team rebuilt the platform to improve its functionality. The web application was made responsive and integrated with the Android app to ensure a cohesive design across the entire platform.

Style Guides

I researched the functions, features, and design of competing services using a document provided by an external marketing firm. To stand out in a growing market for investment apps, I identified the unique offerings and created a style guide tailored to their target audience. I presented three design proposals with slightly different design directions and finalized the final style based on stakeholder feedback.

Target Audience

The user base encompasses a range of investment knowledge levels, each with their own perspective on using the app. For example, beginners may want to gain knowledge, intermediates may wish to experiment with new ideas, and experts may want to share their insights and collaborate with others.

User Onboarding

An investigation into why there were fewer than 1,000 active users despite over 8,000 registered users revealed that onboarding was an issue. Users found it challenging to comprehend the procedures prior to making an investment, which led to low usage of the service.

The onboarding flow was significantly improved in order to achieve to welcome beginners to start investing.
